The Role: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) on 2 West

  • Provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

The Opportunity:

MaineGeneral Health is offering an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team on 2 West.
2 West is a 36-bed med/surg unit, with a small niche population of Oncology patients. Nurses who work on this unit love the team-oriented "family" environment and the career growth opportunities in the Oncology specialty.
This position is 36 hours per week on the night shift (7p-7a). Positions include weekend and holiday rotation.

$4000 Early Acceptance Incentive potential for nursing students who apply at least 6 weeks prior to their graduation date and sign their offer letter within 1 week of when the offer is presented.

The Work:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

  • Maine state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or ability to obtain in a timely fashion, required
