This unit's patient population is comprised of Stroke, Kidney Failure, Diabetes, Diagnostic Testing, GI Surgical, Respiratory and also includes patients requiring chest tubes and trachs. The nurses on this 25 bed medicine unit are committed to providing world class care and have an active voice in decision that impact workflow. The unit educator offers individualized orientation and oversees ongoing educational development to help advance your career.

The 10-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in IMC areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.

Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi-story parking garage. Sentara Leigh Hospital includes a dedicated Orthopedic Hospital providing patients access to a full continuum of orthopedic care, from the preoperative phase and surgery to rehabilitation and home care services.
