Key Responsibilities
The Quality Improvement Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Director of Quality Management to develop and implement a comprehensive quality management program within Correctional Health Services.
The position will require the RN to evaluate and monitor clinical processes, to determine strategies to improve the quality and safety of care and to work collaboratively with clinical nursing leadership in the implementation of quality and patient safety initiatives. The position requires a strong clinical background, familiarity with psychiatric and correctional nursing processes and proficiency in the use of an electronic health record.

- Licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Utah.
- Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating
machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
- Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop,
stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
- This position is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional weekend and/or night shift hours.
Qualifications
Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Clinical experience: a minimum of 2-3 years of direct clinical nursing is required. 12 months of experience in
correctional healthcare is preferred. Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing is preferred.
- Quality experience: one year of experience in quality management, quality improvement or risk management
preferred. Must demonstrate a strong understanding of quality improvement principles and regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory: Understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards including the National
Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC).
- A strong knowledge of evidence-based community standards
Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:
- Acute care hospital nursing experience in medical and psychiatric nursing
CCHP certification
- A strong working knowledge of electronic health records
- Technical skills: proficiency in applications associated with google, microsoft (word, excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with healthcare management software and electronic health record (EHR) programs is required.
- Analytical skills: The ability to collect, analyze and interpret data associated with clinical processes.
Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
