Registered Nurse (RN) -Part-Time All Shifts Available

Arvin Post Acute - Arvin, CA
Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour (DOE)

Arvin Post Acute is seeking compassionate and skilled Registered Nurses (RN) to join our team. All shifts are available. The RN plays a key leadership role in supervising nursing staff, coordinating resident care, and ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence within our skilled nursing facility.

General Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Registered Nurse (RN) is to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during the assigned shift. Supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility and as directed by the Director of Nursing (DON) and/or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to ensure that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.

Essential DutiesAdministrative Functions
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating nursing policies and procedures.

  • Ensure nursing personnel follow established standards of nursing care and facility policies.

  • Prepare written and oral reports regarding resident care and nursing operations as required.

  • Participate in facility surveys and regulatory inspections.

  • Assist with developing and implementing the facility's quality assurance and performance improvement programs.

  • Complete administrative documentation including charting, reports, incident reports, and care documentation.

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and comply with HIPAA regulations.

  • Report any suspected violations involving unauthorized disclosure of resident information or unauthorized access to facility systems.

Nursing Care Functions
  • Supervise nursing staff and ensure appropriate staffing levels for assigned shifts.

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents when necessary.

  • Perform nursing assessments and monitor residents' physical and emotional conditions.

  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.

  • Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules for accuracy and compliance.

  • Review nurses' notes and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Start IVs and obtain specimens such as blood, urine, or sputum as ordered.

  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.

  • Notify physicians and family members of changes in residents' conditions.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and resident assessments.

  • Conduct rounds to evaluate resident status and ensure quality care delivery.

  • Assist with emergency care and respond appropriately to resident needs.

  • Ensure residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinical environment.

Personnel Functions
  • Supervise and support licensed nurses and nursing assistants on the assigned shift.

  • Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure staff follow their job responsibilities.

  • Monitor staff performance and provide guidance and coaching as needed.

  • Participate in staff meetings and assist in identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Maintain a positive, supportive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional respect.

  • Address staff concerns or issues and report concerns to the Director of Nursing as appropriate.

Infection Control and Safety
  • Follow established infection control procedures and safety regulations.

  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Monitor staff compliance with infection control protocols.

  • Participate in infection control and safety programs.

  • Ensure nursing areas remain clean, safe, and compliant with facility standards.

  • Assist with emergency preparedness and disaster drills.

Supervisory Requirements

This position assists with the supervision and coordination of nursing staff including LVNs/LPNs and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) during the assigned shift.

QualificationsEducation and Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

  • Minimum two (2) years nursing experience preferred, ideally in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.

  • Experience in rehabilitative or restorative nursing practices preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Current, active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.

  • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or electronic medical records preferred.

  • Must maintain all required continuing education and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.

  • Ability to make sound clinical decisions in fast-paced environments.

  • Knowledge of nursing practices, medical procedures, and long-term care regulations.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and staff.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism when working with emotionally distressed residents or family members.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to move throughout the facility during the workday.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to assist with resident transfers or emergency evacuations when necessary.

  • Ability to cope with the physical and emotional demands of caring for residents in a skilled nursing environment.

Work Environment

This position works throughout the nursing service areas including nurses' stations, resident rooms, treatment areas, and administrative offices. The role may involve frequent interruptions, interaction with residents and families, and occasional exposure to infectious diseases, medical equipment, and healthcare-related hazards. The noise level is typically moderate.
