Job description

Network Engineer, Mid
The Opportunity:
A well-designed network is critical to move data and enable organizations to achieve their missions, but how can an organization make sure their network will fit their current and evolving needs? Crafting the right network, with the right equipment and software, requires a combination of technical skill and careful planning. That's why we need you, a network engineer who knows how to develop the exact network the DoD needs.
As a Network Engineer, you will help develop, modernize, and sustain secure and resilient network capabilities that support critical defense operations. You'll use your skills in network design, architecture, Layer 2 and 3 technologies, and system interoperability to improve reliability, availability, and performance across mission-focused environments. You will also contribute to engineering efforts including implementation planning, technical reviews, test activities, and upgrades supporting enterprise-wide modernization.
You'll apply your knowledge in routing and switching, integration of encryption gear, network design and architecture, system interoperability, IP engineering, network transport layers, gateway protocol, and virtual routing and forwarding as you join our team of problem-solvers to help the DoD evolve and deploy new capabilities and technologies.
Grow your career with us as we help the DoD field and sustain capabilities and solutions to users of worldwide networks.
Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • 2+ years of experience with network configuration, troubleshooting, or engineering support
  • Experience supporting engineering implementation planning, sustainment engineering, or technical reviews
  • Experience with routing and switching technologies and Layer 2 and 3 network protocols
  • Knowledge of network design and architecture, OSI model concepts, transport layers, and system interoperability
  • Knowledge of cryptographic equipment, network security technologies, and firewall implementations
  • Ability to perform Tier III troubleshooting of complex issues
  • Ability to interpret network diagrams, engineering documentation, and lab test outputs
  • Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience conducting network health assessments or supporting modernization efforts
  • Experience performing lab automation or developing repeatable test workflows
  • Knowledge of gateway protocols, virtual routing and forwarding, or optical networking
  • Knowledge of mission-aligned enterprise networking standards and emerging technologies
  • Ability to identify improvements for network resiliency, capacity, or security
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers or support higher-level planning efforts
  • Possession of strong communication skills for technical discussions and engineering reviews
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, IT, or Cyber field
  • CCNA, CCNP, or Security+ Certification

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
