Job description

OverviewAssessment and evaluation of the breastfeeding couplet. This includes planning, implementing and evaluating care based on this assessment. Provides and coordinates lactation assistance, education, and support to antepartum, post-partum, and neonatal patients (inclusive of adolescents and adults) through the use of the nursing process in accordance with standard nursing practice and established nursing policies and procedures. Monitoring couplet to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems and to provide an environment that effectively supports the breastfeeding families. Providing patient/staff education and support in all aspects of lactation management.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for providing high quality education programs and activities that promote health of the patient and community through the life cycle, and individual development of the staff according to learning needs identified through a variety of sources to facilitate patient care.QualificationsEducation
  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree of Nursing Preferred
Work Experience
  • 2 years of clinical nursing in area of specialty Required or
  • 1 year of education experience Required
  • 2 years experience in Maternal Child area Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Required
  • IBCLC - International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Preferred or
  • has received certification as a breastfeeding counselor Preferred
