Job description

Part-time Faculty Position

University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College at North Little Rock is an integral part of the Arkansas Technical and Community College System maintained by the State of Arkansas. The college is governed by the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees and a seven-member Board of Visitors and derives its support largely from student tuition and fees and legislative appropriations. UA - Pulaski Tech, a comprehensive two-year college, offers associate degree and certificate programs for students who plan to transfer to four-year colleges and universities and/or for career preparation and advancement.

Summary of Job Duties

Part-time faculty will have responsibility of providing quality subject matter expertise in the development of learning modules and guidance in the development of courses in collaboration with UAPTC and iDesign. The faculty will have the option to perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities later beyond the development of the curriculum and courses. All work completed should be done in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. This position requires collaborating with internal and external partners to design, develop, and enhance courses related to the energy sector which may include NERC-related training or cyber. Other responsibilities of this position may include:

  • Demonstrate a willingness to use contemporary educational techniques and technology.
  • Utilize expert skills or knowledge required for the discipline to develop modules in collaboration with iDesign and UAPTC.
  • Recommend textbooks and/or other materials needed for the courses.
  • Complete timely documentation of hours worked that are directly related to the development of the courses and collaboration with iDesign and UAPTC.
  • Maintain established timelines for the project.
  • Assist in providing subject matter expertise to develop learning modules for NERC and/or cyber for the energy sector.
  • Propose curriculum innovations for modern and forward-thinking learning for the field.
  • Ensure quality curriculum relevant to the field.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a field related to cyber security, and/or NERC with relevant certifications where applicable.
  • Ability to collaborate with a high-functioning curriculum design development team.
  • Familiarity with basic technology tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Zoom.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • High personal and professional ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications for Cyber/CIS and/or NERC:

  • Extensive experience in Information Technology, Cyber Security, and/or NERC.
  • Experience in Critical Infrastructure Protection, including planning, coordinating, and implementing compliance programs where applicable.
  • Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control and NERC where applicable.
  • Experience in preparing for and conducting compliance audits where applicable.
  • Experience in datacenter planning and management for 24x7 operations where applicable.
  • Expertise in designing high availability server and networking/communications environments where applicable.
  • Experience in application, database, and operating system development where applicable.
  • Recognized expert in Cyber Security or NERC for the energy sector.
  • Experience supporting the implementation of and compliance with NERC CIP standards where applicable.
