Job description

At Eichleay, we are continuously growing our network of Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers to support upcoming work across our expanding portfolio of process industry projects. We are accepting resumes of candidates who are seeking upcoming opportunities based in Ferndale, WA or across the Western United States. Positions will be located onsite, hybrid, or remote depending on the project and/or team alignment. You’ll partner with experienced, multi-discipline teams to solve complex challenges and deliver high-quality electrical engineering and design solutions that drive meaningful impact for our clients.

Employment Type: Full time.

*Other options may exist including part time, fixed-term, and casual (as needed employment types)

Experience: Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Refining, Chemicals, Power, Life Sciences, Food & Beverage, Advanced Manufacturing, or related industries.

General Core Responsibilities (may vary based on position)

  • Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues. Address issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees, clients, and contractors with zero environmental incidents.
  • Consistently achieve goals, delivering quality and accurate work while meeting project schedules, including reviewing project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Support development of electrical engineering, drawing, and construction work packages for review and approval.
  • Develop electrical system designs including power distribution, motor control systems, grounding, and lighting systems.
  • Prepare electrical calculations such as load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, arc flash, and protective device coordination, independently or with guidance from more experienced engineering staff.
  • Perform scope development and create technical specifications for electrical equipment and system modifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam; experience with Navisworks or 3D modeling tools preferred.
  • Prepare material requisitions for bid and technical bid evaluations, review vendor submittals, and respond to RFIs.
  • Provide man-hour estimates and material quantity takeoffs to support proposals and cost estimates.
  • Attend and participate in Client and Eichleay project team meetings. May require in-person interactions including site visits.
  • Maintain schedule and budget commitments.
  • Ensure compliance with site, global, and industry standards including IEEE, ANSI, NFPA (NEC), NEMA, and API.
  • Support construction, commissioning, start-up, and client turnaround activities as required.

Preferred Requirements/Skills (may vary based on position)

Education:

  • For Engineering roles: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Licensed PE or working toward licensure is highly desired.
  • For Electrical Designer roles: Associate’s degree in engineering discipline or technical training in drafting, AutoCAD, or related field.

Skills:

  • Ability to coordinate across disciplines and project teams
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools in engineering workflows while maintaining responsible charge and code compliance
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
  • Ability to coordinate with vendors and clients and manage budgets and schedules

Technical Competence:

  • Experience with electrical system studies (SKM, ETAP, or similar)
  • Experience in medium and low voltage power distribution design. Experience with high voltage is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with motor control centers (MCC), VFDs, and control systems integration
  • Experience with hazardous area classification and design
  • Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NFPA/NEC, NEMA, and API standards


Industry Requirements

Roles may require all or some of the following:

  • RSO/HHFT Safety Training or ability to obtain
  • Client-specific safety training and badging
  • TWIC card or ability to obtain
  • Background screening (employment, education, criminal history, driving record)
  • Participation in random drug and alcohol programs

Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekdays and weekends.
Job duties will be performed at a client site, production facility or industrial/construction job site.
Conditions and/or schedule may vary, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
Candidates will be required to follow our clients' site-based rules and protocols regarding infectious diseases.
