About the Role:
Join our dynamic team at The Gentle Dentist as a Part-Time Medical Assistant! In this role, you'll play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care while supporting our dedicated dental professionals in a warm and friendly environment.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team. This unique role bridges the gap between patient wellness and clinical care. The ideal candidate will assist in myofunctional therapy exercises, prepare patients for IV sedation, and provide constant, attentive monitoring of vitals during sedated procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Myofunctional Therapy Support: Assist the therapist/dentist by setting up patient exercises, reviewing therapy protocols with patients, and guiding them through orofacial exercises.
  • IV Sedation Pre-Op: Review patient health histories, confirm pre-operative instructions, take blood pressure/vitals, and prepare the sedation bay.
  • Sedation Monitoring: Monitor patients during IV sedation, tracking vitals (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation) under the direct supervision of the dentist.
  • Sterilization & Room Turnover: Maintain a strict sterile environment (OSHA compliance).
Qualifications:
  • Active Medical Assistant certification with experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience.
  • Experience or strong interest in myofunctional therapy.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR Certification.
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills.
