Music Therapist

The Care Team Hospice is seeking a Part-Time Music Therapist to provide comfort, connection, and emotional support to hospice patients and families through individualized music therapy services in home and facility settings. This role focuses on enhancing quality of life through therapeutic interventions that promote comfort, relaxation, and emotional expression.

Schedule, Hours & Territory
• Standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• West Branch, MI, and surrounding areas

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct music therapy assessments and develop individualized plans
• Provide therapeutic music interventions for patients and families
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
• Support emotional expression, relaxation, and symptom relief
• Document services and patient responses accurately and timely in the EMR HCHB (Homecare Homebase)

  • Maintains the agency's mission, philosophy, and core values.
  • Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures regarding operations/processes, including but not limited to those regarding patient care, patient complaints, incidents, safety, and emergency management.
  • Always maintains patient confidentiality, including all HIPAA regulations.

Regulatory Requirements

  • Licensed or registered in the State of MI
  • Must pass a criminal background check & MVR check.
  • Completed health statements acknowledging the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid state drivers license.
  • Proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR card; On-line CPR certification accepted; Hands-on CPR certification preferred.
  • TB testing per agency policy; (1 or 2-step TB skin test within 12 months of hire & annual TB symptom screening thereafter).

Industry experience

  • Hospice and Palliative Care certified Music Therapist preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music with a concentration in Music Therapy, and must meet educational requirements to achieve certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists. Previous experience with terminally ill patients/families is highly desirable.
