Job description

Summary

The Conferencing and Media Specialist (part-time) position performs a wide range of duties including supporting university use of fixed multimedia classrooms and videoconferencing rooms. Also delivering, setting up and testing portable AV equipment and videoconferencing equipment.

This is a part time position.

Flexibility to work either morning shifts or evening shifts, depending on needs.

Essential Functions

Support multimedia room usage and maintain/repair multimedia room equipment by:

  • Troubleshooting issues received via work ticket, instant message, text or phone.

  • Using web-based consoles to remotely control multimedia system to resolve issues quickly.

  • Routinely test multimedia equipment and collaborative technology spaces to ensure functionality.

  • Repairing or replacing broken cables, connectors and equipment as needed.

  • Reporting issues that need further evaluation or cannot be fixed in-house to the Conferencing and Media Specialist (FT) or Associate Director of Conferencing, Media and Learning Spaces.

Supporting university streaming events by:

  • Assisting with streaming equipment move/setup/test/break-down.

  • Assisting with running/monitoring streaming equipment during events.

  • Troubleshoot any issues with streaming equipment and report any un-resolvable issues to the supervisor(s).

Supporting university digital signage solution by:

  • Turning on any displays that have been powered off.

  • Making sure displays are functional and receiving content throughout the campus.

  • Troubleshoot any issues with signage displays and media players.

  • Report unresolved issues to the Conferencing and Media Specialist (FT) or Associate Director of Conferencing, Media and Learning Spaces.

Support events, classes and meetings using portable multimedia and videoconferencing equipment by:

  • Processing work orders via the electronic work order system.

  • Inspecting of equipment before delivery.

  • Delivering/setup and pickup/return of equipment.

  • Testing of equipment to make sure equipment is fully functional.

  • Assisting users with presentation setup and any technical difficulties.

  • Repairing or replacing broken cables, connectors and equipment if possible.

  • Reporting issues that need further evaluation or cannot be fixed in-house to the Conferencing and Media Specialist (FT) or Associate Director of Conferencing, Media and Learning Spaces.

Supporting university streaming events by:

  • Assisting with streaming equipment move/setup/test/break-down.

  • Assisting with running/monitoring streaming equipment during events.

  • Troubleshoot any issues with streaming equipment and report any un-resolvable issues to the supervisor(s).

Performs other job-related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associate's degree or vocational/technical school degree in the field of AV Repair, AV Installation, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or Videoconferencing.

  • 1-3 years of related experience is required.

  • Understanding of MS Office suite (specifically Word & Excel.

  • Responsive to phone calls, emails, texts/chats

  • Responsible for work ticket updates

  • Flexibility to work either morning shifts or evening shifts, depending on needs.
