Job description

OPTIM ORTHOPEDICS is seeking a part time Radiologic Technologist for the Savannah, GA location.

JOB TITLE: Radiologic Technologist

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the X-RAY Supervisor

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned).

  1. Responsible for proper use of light system to get patients
  2. Responsible for identifying patient and exam
  3. Ensuring correct exam will be done if questions about what the doctor may want.
  4. Safely escort patient to radiology department
  5. Provide patient confidentiality
  6. Create a patient folder by placing information into the computer prior to starting the exam
  7. Provide patient radiation protection
  8. Position patient for each view ordered
  9. Make exposure using ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) technical factors and proper collimation
  10. Use QA (Quality Assurance) with each view taken to ensure correct identification of body part (L-R), acceptable technical factors and positioning
  11. Store each patient’s study to the Pacs System
  12. Ensure charges properly match exams done
  13. Return patient to the exam room
  14. Assist doctors and staff with Pac’s questions
  15. Make copies of film to paper, film or disks for doctors and patients
  16. Responsible for taking scout radiographs for MRI patients
  17. Assist film library with filing outside film in the computer
  18. Maintain proper radiation protection for self when holding patients
  19. Assist film library with mailing back outside film
  20. Provide coverage of film library when personnel absent
  21. Provide coverage for Saturday and evening hours
  22. Adhere to schedules provided weekly and monthly
  23. Attend seminars and read bimonthly publications
  24. Take direct readings tests for continuing education to keep certification current
  25. Performs related work as required
  26. Connect patient studies in the Pacs System daily
