Location: Primarily Main Campus, but any other college location as assigned by the appropriate administrator
SUMMARY
Through a combination of classroom and on the motorcycle range instruction, the Rider Coach will be responsible for teaching Motorcycle Safety Foundation Rider Education classes. Rider Coaches teach students how to operate bikes and instill safe riding practices.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
  • Conduct classroom and on-the-range instruction consistent with the Kansas State Department of Education and Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) requirements and standards to prepare and properly instruct rider education students.
  • Create an environment that is conducive to serving students while meeting the requirements of federal, state, and local mandates.
  • Maintain impeccable safety standards.
  • Track all aspects of each student's rider education training and related communications and report information to the Department of Adult and Continuing Education and lead instructor.
  • Prepare equipment and report accidents, injuries, and damages to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform professional services requiring excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Complete required paperwork and keep all necessary records.
  • Ability to work during evenings and on weekends, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current Motorcycle Safety Foundation (Rider Coach) Certificate
  • Current and valid Motorcycle License
  • Current and valid Driver's License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous teaching experience
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and ability to work with various student and faculty population.
  • High energy, self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships and establish credibility with all levels of employee in the organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of MSF regulations.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage several projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously.

WORK SCHEDULE
KCKCC Motorcycle Rider Education season runs from March to mid-November. The Basic Rider Courses (BRC) is offered in two parts: classroom instruction and hands-on learning riding motorcycles on the range. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. Instructors should be on campus at least 30 minutes before and after each class. May require evening and weekend hours. Schedule as followed:
  • Friday - 6:00 PM CST to 10:00 PM CST
    • Classroom Instruction
  • Saturday - 8:00 AM CST to 5:00 PM CST
    • Classroom Instruction
    • Range Practice
  • Sunday - 8:00 AM CST to 5:00 PM CST
    • Range Practice
