Job Description
Saint Cecilia Catholic School, a PK-8th grade Catholic School on Bainbridge Island, Washington, seeks a part-time Physical Education Teacher. This teacher will guide our K-8th students to develop motor skills as well as social skills and cultivate an interest in being active. You are responsible for ensuring all students are involved in the daily class activities and making accommodations for students with special needs.
Saint Cecilia Catholic School believes that our curriculum inspires students to know and live our faith, serve the community, and demonstrate flexible thinking. We are seeking a teacher who will encourage a love of physical activity and encourage students to embody the values of servant leadership.
Job Responsibilities
Ability to teach and guide students in the Catholic faith while teaching Physical Education
Excellent communication skills with administration, parents, students, and colleagues
Create weekly lesson plans (to be submitted to the principal) for classes K-8
Introduce students to different physical activities and promote wellness
Teach student the rules, basic skills, and sportsmanship for a variety of grade level appropriate sports
Evaluate student performance and provide a summative grade for each report card (3 trimesters)
Help organize Jog-a-thon course and volunteers and end of the year Field Day activities and volunteers
Be responsible for attending school wide professional development within the year provided by the administration
Be responsible for attending school staff meetings in the morning prior to your scheduled school day
Establish clear expectations, procedures, and routines for student behavior in the classroom and reinforces school expectations
Model appropriate participation in daily school prayers
Collaboratively work as part of a team committed to excellent teaching
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of one-year coaching experience with elementary school children preferred
A practicing Catholic preferred
Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent
Clear a background check and complete Safe Environment Training
Salary
Part-Time $9,000 - $12,000
8 hours (1 day of work on campus)
Any offered salary is determined based on internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
