Wayzata Early Learning School Preschool Assistant - Part-Time

Position Type/Title: Preschool Assistant
Current Available Positions (subject to change): 

  • Early Learning School - T & Th - 8:15am-11:45am
  • Early Learning School - T-F - 8:00am-12:00pm
  • Gleason Lake - M-F - 3:30pm-5:30pm
  • Greenwood - M-F - 7:00am-8:30am
  • Kimberly Lane - M-F - 3:30pm-5:30pm

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic Preschool Assistant to join our team!
Position Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the teacher in creating a positive learning environment and providing high-quality instruction and care to our preschoolers. This is a school year position.  Opportunities available for summer employment.

As a Preschool Assistant you will

  • Create a safe and nurturing learning environment
  • Lead children in the development of language, motor, and social skills
  • Lead age-appropriate, hands-on activities for 2-5 year old children
  • Enforce policies and procedures set by the school
  • Participate in professional development and other school-related activities
  • Communicate daily with parents at drop off and pick up
  • Foster an atmosphere of respect and positive reinforcement


We are looking for someone with the following qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in child development, early childhood, or equivalent preferred
  • Has a passion for working with young children
  • Ideal candidates will have experience working with young children from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience with the Pyramid Model and Classroom Engagement Model is beneficial
  • Has documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Has the physical abilities to perform the required job duties with or without accommodation
  • Able to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with students, staff and caregivers
  • Must successfully meet our pre-employment background screening requirements
