Interior Designer

Department: Design
Reports To: Design Manager / Design Director
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

The Interior Designer is responsible for leading and executing residential and/or multi-family interior design projects from concept through completion. This role involves developing cohesive design concepts, preparing presentations and construction documentation, coordinating with vendors and consultants, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and aligned with company design standards.

The ideal candidate is highly creative, detail-oriented, organized, and confident managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This individual should have a strong understanding of interior architecture, finishes, materials, and the overall project execution process.

Key Responsibilities

Design Development & Project Execution

  • Develop interior design concepts, finish palettes, mood boards, and presentations for residential and/or multi-family projects. 
  • Prepare finish schedules, material selections, specifications, and design documentation. 
  • Produce and update AutoCAD drawings, floor plans, elevations, and presentation materials. 
  • Source furniture, lighting, plumbing, tile, flooring, and decorative materials that align with project goals and budgets. 
  • Ensure all selections and documentation are coordinated and construction-ready. 

Client & Team Collaboration

  • Lead or participate in client and internal design meetings. 
  • Present design concepts, selections, and solutions clearly and professionally. 
  • Collaborate closely with purchasing, construction, sales, architecture, and vendor partners throughout project development. 
  • Communicate design updates, timelines, and project requirements effectively across teams. 

Vendor & Consultant Coordination

  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, samples, and product availability. 
  • Request quotes, track orders, and ensure timely procurement of materials and furnishings. 
  • Troubleshoot issues related to orders, deliveries, installations, or substitutions as needed. 

Project Management & Organization

  • Maintain organized project files, finish schedules, budgets, and specifications. 
  • Track project timelines and assist in ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.      
  • Organize and maintain design libraries, samples, catalogs, and vendor resources. 
  • Assist in developing and maintaining company design standards and processes. 

Site Visits & Installations

  • Conduct site visits to verify field conditions and ensure design intent is properly executed. 
  • Participate in project installs, model home setups, and final styling as needed. 
  • Document site progress with photos, punch lists, and detailed notes. 
  • Coordinate with field teams to resolve design-related questions during construction.
