Job description

Location: Mostly remote after training.  Training and quarterly onsite commitments at Mizzou Pharmacy-Ellis Fischel & Old 63.
Address: 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO;  1601 Old 63 South, Columbia, MO

Hours:  Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 5pm (shifts will be within these days/times)
Compensation:

        Salary: $72/hour


ABOUT THE JOB

Join our dynamic Mizzou Specialty Pharmacy team as a clinical pharmacist, where your expertise will make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of our community! Mizzou Specialty Pharmacy partners with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive management of chronic, complex, and rare diseases.

In this rewarding role, you will serve as the expert for specialty medications. You will be a resource for patients, pharmacy staff, and the clinics. You will assess specialty medications for therapeutic appropriateness using clinical information from the electronic health record, retail pharmacy software or obtained from patient interview and counsel patients about specialty medications. Your patient specific recommendations will ensure safety, efficacy and cost-effectiveness. The right candidate will understand outpatient pharmacy workflow and enjoy assisting in the education, support and training of pharmacy technicians, patient medication liaisons and other members of the specialty pharmacy team.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Demonstrate ability to assess therapeutic appropriateness utilizing clinical information in the electronic medical record, retail pharmacy software, or obtained during patient interview.

Provide appropriate patient-specific medication recommendations that ensure safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness.

Assist in the education, support, and training of pharmacy technicians, patient medication liaisons, pharmacy students, pharmacists, and residents.

Serve as a resource for the pharmacy team, nursing, and prescribers for questions/issues related to pharmacotherapy; analyze literature to support usage and contact prescribers as needed.

Perform basic functions of outpatient pharmacy workflow and other duties as assigned.

May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Pharmacist licensure by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.

Medication Therapy Services endorsement required within 12 months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency program. Three (3) years of pharmacy experience. Advanced certification such as BCACP, BCOP, BCPS, BCCCP, CSP, or BCPPS or other relevant pharmacy board certification from the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board. Experience in specialty pharmacy or clinical experience in specialty disease states. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
