Job description

We are Secure Community Network (SCN), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) serving as the official safety and security organization of the Jewish community in North America. Here at SCN, we deeply value the team of people that work diligently to commit their lives to action for a better tomorrow and we are excited to add a part-time Office Security Specialist to our organization.The Office Security Specialist is responsible for the safety and security of SCN's staff and Field Support Center facility. They will protect SCN employees, visitors, and company property through access control, proactive monitoring, and incident prevention. The position is located onsite in our Chicago office. It is a part-time role, expected to work three or four 7-hour shifts per week (approximately 21-28 hours per week). Available shifts include 6:00am-1:00pm on Saturdays and 1:00-8:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.WHAT YOU WILL DO:Responsible for access and visitor management at SCN's Field Support Center including screening and documenting all visitors and guests at SCN, escorting them into the facility, badging, and departure.Conduct office security tasks including monitoring security cameras and accepting and examining mail and package deliveries.Conduct routine patrols of the perimeter to identify potential security risks and ensure the security of company property and personnel.Coordinate with internal and external teams including building management, SCN staff, security vendors, and law enforcement.Respond to emergency situations impacting SCN's office, including security threats, natural and/or human-made disasters, and medical emergencies.Utilize de-escalation techniques as necessary through conversation and managing situations for the protection of SCN employees.Provide and utilize first aid, AED, and stop-the-bleed equipment and techniques as necessary. Provide security-related awareness briefings for designated individuals and SCN personnel.Perform other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Completion of law enforcement certification from an accredited law enforcement academy or approved United States Military Criminal Investigative or Law Enforcement Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) with at least 10 years of sworn law enforcement experience (candidate is currently sworn law enforcement, retired in good standing, and/or honorably discharged from the military).Must qualify under LEOSA (HR 218) to legally possess a concealed firearm.CPR, AED, and First Aid training.Working knowledge of physical security systems, intrusion detection and alarm equipment, access control systems, video monitoring and CCTV, computerized security hardware and software, and technical security countermeasures.Trustworthy with a proven track record of successfully working in a team environment and maintaining strict confidentiality.Demonstrates a welcoming and professional demeanor in interactions with visitors, staff, and other individuals the position may come in contact with.Adept at observing individual body language for threats and strong intuition for situation awareness.Ability to make decisions under pressure.Resourceful and able to obtain information quickly and know who to go to if the information is not readily available. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in Apple environment preferred.
