9 North Medical is a 35 bed, Medical/Surgical unit. With a diverse patient population, a variety of ailments are seen amongst our patients creating plenty of learning opportunities. With an emphasis on putting patient needs first and strongteamwork, we strive to provide thehighest level of care for all our patients, while creating a positive culture for staff to grow and work efficiently within amultidisciplinarycare team. Staff are encouraged to be active participants in our Professional NurseCouncilto spur positive changes and be involved in unit decisions through a Shared Governance Model.

Scope ofwork

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatchservicesandappropriate documentationof services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
