Now Hiring! Mechanic (Heavy Duty) in Phoenix, Az and surrounding areas!
We're hiring an experienced Mechanic to handle all maintenance and repairs for our trucks and equipment. This role is responsible for the overall condition and readiness of the fleet and requires a flexible schedule to keep vehicles operable for each job. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain eligibility for AIMS Company driving privileges (see AIMS Employee Handbook).
  • Be punctual in job start time and be productive with the time required to complete tasks.
  • Display effective teamwork with other employees while following instructions from the Lead Mechanic.
  • Learn to anticipate what needs to be done next. (Prioritize repairs)
  • Clean shop/tools at the end of your shift.
  • Wear all appropriate PPE and practice safe work habits.
  • Record all repairs & parts used on completed tasks.
  • Conduct yourself in such a way as to promote honesty, fairness, and integrity in dealing with customers, their employees and all AIMS employees.
  • Maintain the high standards in performance of Preventive Maintenance on all trucks and equipment.
  • Efficiently perform work schedule presented by the Supervisor.
  • Fill out complete detailed records of maintenance and repairs on Company trucks and equipment, as well as other paperwork, in a timely manner.
  • Practice "Repair before failure"
  • Confer with the Supervisor concerning parts that need to be ordered for immediate use and parts that need to be ordered to replenish AIMS stock.
  • Assist the team in maintaining inventory and tracking shop tools, equipment and truck tools/equipment according to Companies' Tool Assignment Agreement.
  • Instruct the Crew Leaders and Operators concerning any equipment operating practices which may be detrimental to the life of our equipment.
  • Report equipment or truck problems to the Supervisor.
  • Coordinate repairs with the Supervisor.
  • Be dependable in back-and-forth communication with the Service Coordinator.
  • Assist in keeping the shop and yard clean and orderly (Clean shop/tools at the end of each shift). Develop and maintain a good working relationship with Companies' parts and service vendors.
  • Assist in performing Annual Inspections on all AIMS CMV's.
  • Assist in placing annual County tag stickers on every AIMS vehicle.

This list is not a full description of the duties of the position. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the company's operational needs.
Minimal requirements include:
  • General repair knowledge on trucks.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Capable of working under time constraints to ensure critical deadlines are met.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Willing to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Willing to work in confined spaces frequently.
  • Must have dependable transportation and be willing to travel occasionally.
  • Willing to work non-traditional hours and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to demonstrate equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Operate autonomously and demonstrate problem solving abilities
  • Ability to review and red-line plans, technical specifications, project documentation
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Commercial Driver's License with clean driving record.
  • 3+ years previous mechanical experience on vacuum truck, combo trucks or hydrovacs.
  • Above-average customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.

Travel for this position is expected to be less than 20% per year.
Working Conditions:
This position may require exposure to various weather conditions (i.e heat, rain, snow). Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend and twist at the waist, climb stairs, and walk without assistance.
Benefits are available to full-time employees (30 or more hours per week).

  • 40 hours vacation pay after 1 year; 80 hours after 2 years.
