Job description

C2 Education of Herndon, VA is an educational center working with grade 4-12 students, part of a fastgrowing chain of educational service providers. We are looking for a part-time Math Tutor to be part of our teaching team.  Knowledge in one of the Sciences (Physics, Chemistry or Biology is a plus). 
The position starts as part time, with some flexibility to work out the specific schedule of work hours and the possibility that over time it may become a full time position. There are also potential opportunities for advancement.  Please note that this position is for in-person work only; please do not apply if you are not currently able to commute to our center in Herndon, VA USA.
WE PROVIDE: 
  • Consistent and flexible scheduling. Tutors do not have to deal with the hassle and expense of traveling to other people's homes and can expect a predictable weekly pay. Initial pay rate is based on experience and educational background, with periodic performance-based pay raises.
  • Paid training, optional 401k matching by company and profit-sharing bonus*
  • All instruction is done at our center, with no homework to grade or reports to fill out after teaching. Also, tutors are not responsible for communicating with parents (our office staff handles that). We want our tutors to focus on what they do best - teaching!
  • A good learning environment, with all the teaching resources you'll need in our center - just bring your skills and love of teaching. Tutoring is done one-on-one or in a small group (max 3 students).

THE TUTOR WE ARE LOOKING FOR WILL HAVE: 
  • A B.S. or higher level degree 
  • Sharp reasoning skills, reflected in an ability to do well on and teach SAT-level material and higher level Math. Our Math tutor applicants take a sample SAT (Math section only) at our center and must score 700+.
  • Strong math skills in Algebra I, II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus and Calculus.
  • Science backgound: A background in one or more of the sciences is a plus - physics, chemistry, biology or other science - .
  • A passion for teaching and working with young people.
Previous experience teaching or tutoring is valued.
COMPENSATION
*$27 - $31/hour starting, plus 1) an optional 401k retirement account match by employer and 2) Profit-sharing upon completion of eligibility period.
