Position Information
Job Title Adjunct Instructor Pool - Dual Credit Position Summary
Disciplines for dual credit adjuncts include: History, Math, English, Biology, Spanish, Religion, Psychology, Sociology, Fine Arts, and Government.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate College resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process.
  • Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules (morning, afternoon, evening and weekends) to accommodate diverse student needs and external stakeholders' expectations of College as assigned by designated supervisor.
  • Demonstrates a sensitivity toward and respect for the myriad of diversities represented in the student population, colleagues and service area.
  • Aids in the development of curricula, including individual course syllabi as assigned.
  • Prepares and delivers instruction to students.
  • Actively pursues and participates in professional development activities to enhance skills in various modes of instruction and knowledge of learning.
  • Works with colleagues to select appropriate textbooks for departmental adoptions, and abides by departmental decisions for textbooks Prepares assignments.
  • May compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
  • Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student.
  • Participates in Texas Wesleyan institutional effectiveness program including the preparation and evaluations of Student Outcomes Assessment Plans (SOAPs).
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College.
  • Maintains student attendance records.
  • Evaluates student performance and learning.
  • Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students.
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements.

Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with 18 graduate hours in the discipline being taught.
Experience
  • 1-3 (one to three) years of preferred experience in related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, legal documents, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to stay current of new regulations by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks; and, participating in professional organizations.
  • Knowledge in time management and organizational strategies.
  • Knowledge in college-level textbook-reading and note-taking strategies.
  • Knowledge in college campus resources.
  • Knowledge in different earning styles.
  • Knowledge in test-taking approaches and preparation strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively with other University personnel.
  • Ability to provide service to both the University and the community.
  • Ability to comply with rules, standards, regulations, FERPA laws, and laws related to student records.
  • Ability to adhere to university and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
