Work Schedule: 

  • Part-time (20 hours weekly) 
  • Day hours - 8am-4:30pm, 2 days one week, and 3 the next week - two week schedule rotation
  • No weekend or holidays

 Job Requirements: 

Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing 
New hires must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire
Registered Nurse
Membership in related professional organization preferred 
3-4 years experience Clinical in Nursing Labor and Delivery Nursing
1 year experience clerical, scheduling, and computer experience

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for monitoring the flow of maternity calls into Central Scheduling on a daily basis, ensuring adequate phone coverage. The coordinator is also responsible for the following: Checks the quality of orders entered into the scheduling database, verifies they are scheduled according to each department’s established guidelines, ensure exceptions are coordinated with the departments according to guidelines, resolving any conflicts; Ensures daily schedules are generated and distributed according to departmental procedures; Responsible for requesting daily blocking and requesting altering of departmental availability in the scheduling software and responsible for the development of maternity training and support materials to be used within the department

Job Responsibilities:
Works closely with Central Scheduling to assure the needs of Maternity patients are met. Assists with the education of Central Scheduling staff as needed.
Schedules procedures according to each department's guidelines and any exceptions are discussed with the appropriate department and this is clearly communicated. Schedule altering and blocking is done according to the needs of each department. Scheduling is performed with accuracy. Checks the quality of orders entered into the scheduling database.
Continues to explore ways to improve process for Central Scheduling. Meets with physician groups as indicated to make certain needs of the physicians are being met as well as the patients. Follows guidelines for repeat of telephone orders. 
Communicates effectively with physician groups, staff members and patients. Anticipates customer needs and provides information necessary for scheduled procedure time. Follows through with issues/conflicts with schedule -i.e.. communicates with necessary party and follows up promptly.
