Job description

Overview

The Legacy mission of making life better for others influences everything we do, from patient care to business processes. You can be a part of that mission by initiating and supporting the financial decisions and goals of our patient billing services department. As you design and maintain electronic files assuring that adequate revenues and levels of reimbursement are obtained, you'll grow professionally and personally in a compassionate and supportive healthcare community.

Responsibilities
  • Initiates and supports financial decisions and goals via information management and data analysis. 
  • Provides direct support to Revenue Cycle management team as well as lead and line staff positions.
  • Promotes system compatibility and ensuring focus on compliance and cooperative efforts to achieve overall team goals.
  • Design and maintain computer files across systems to ensure all regulatory requirements are met as well as the requirements of other external and internal payors, regulatory agencies and clinical departments. 
  • Monitors, extracts and analyzes financial data to ensure adequate revenues and levels of reimbursement. 
  • Support, develop, perform and oversee system, interface, and upgrade testing across multiple computer systems. 
  • Assists clinical departments in operating analysis, provides input and suggestions into this function regarding volumes, pricing, productivity, and reimbursement to ensure financial viability.
Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent degree OR equivalent experience in healthcare business operations, financial management, business analytics, information systems or revenue cycle operations required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience: 

  • Three years' experience in systems and/or financial analysis/programming or similar business process support functions required in addition to academic degree (bachelor's or above). 
  • The experience requirement may be met with seven years of experience in lieu of an academic degree. 
  • Prior information system support or implementation experience required. 
  • Prior hospital or health care experience with emphasis on workflow and procedures, operations management, financial management and reimbursement issues required. 
  • Quality Assurance, project management and leadership skills required. 

Skills: 

  • Ability to promote/support "management with data;" creation of reports, recommendations on data structures for existing or new applications including product design, file/table maintenance, etc., using the following languages or programs (depending on assignment):
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, etc.)
    • Epic
    • Clarity
    • Power BI
    • FinThrive ReimbursementVitalWare
    • Electronic claims management products    
    • Huron/Stockamp - TRAC
    • Advisory Board Compass (ROC)

  • Excellent analytical skills to perform analysis and provide recommendations on pricing, revenues and reimbursement.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work directly with all levels of staff and managements, as well as liaison with consultants and system vendors.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent CQI skills with ability to redefine job functions and workflow.
