How does a part time manager balance leadership responsibilities with limited work hours?

A part-time manager can successfully balance leadership duties by prioritizing key tasks, delegating responsibilities to team members, and maintaining clear, proactive communication. Since time on-site may be limited, it's important to set clear expectations, utilize technology for remote oversight, and foster a culture of trust and accountability. Regular check-ins and focusing on high-impact activities help ensure team goals are met and operations run smoothly, even when the manager is not always present.

What is the difference between Part Time Manager vs Part Time Supervisor?

AspectPart Time ManagerPart Time Supervisor

A Part Time Supervisor focuses on daily task supervision and team coordination. What is a part time manager?

Part time managers are professionals who oversee teams, projects, or business operations while working fewer hours than a full-time schedule, typically less than 35-40 hours per week. They perform similar duties to full-time managers, such as supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring goals are met, but on a reduced time commitment. This role is ideal for individuals seeking work-life balance or those who have other commitments. Part time managers are found in various industries, including retail, hospitality, and administration.

How to get a part time manager job without management experience?

To secure a part-time manager position without prior management experience, focus on demonstrating strong leadership skills, such as communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, through previous roles or volunteer work. Gaining relevant certifications like a management or leadership course can also enhance your qualifications and show your commitment to developing management skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time manager?

To thrive as a Part Time Manager, you typically need leadership experience, organizational skills, and a background in business or management, often supported by relevant education or prior supervisory roles. Familiarity with scheduling software, point-of-sale systems, and basic office applications is common in this role. Exceptional communication, time management, and conflict resolution abilities help Part Time Managers motivate teams and handle challenges efficiently. These skills are crucial for maintaining smooth operations, meeting goals, and supporting team performance within limited working hours.

Job description

Urgent Care Front Desk Insurance & Billing SUPERHERO WANTED! (Guaranteed at least 36 Hours Per Week)
Help Us Keep Life Uninterrupted!
At American Family Care, we're not just treating patients - we're revolutionizing how people access healthcare. As the nation's leading urgent care provider with over 400 clinics across 26 states, we're looking for a detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to be the face of our clinic and the first step in our patient-first approach.
At American Family Care, our Part-Time Medical Receptionists keep our urgent care centers running smoothly. In this role, you will be committing the following hours:
8 a.m.- 7 p.m. M-F
8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sat-Sun
Why You'll Love Working Part-Time at AFC
  • Competitive pay, plus shift differentials may apply.
  • Collaborative, supportive, fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to maintain clinical skills while balancing other work, school, or family commitments.
  • Make a meaningful impact on patient care and community health.

Why Your Insurance Verification Skills Matter Most
You're not just answering phones - you're our revenue protection specialist and patient financial counselor. As our front desk receptionist, your precision with insurance verification directly impacts both patient experience AND our clinic's financial health. We're specifically looking for someone who excels at resolving insurance and billing challenges while maintaining high patient satisfaction.
Let's be direct: We need someone exceptional at insurance verification and revenue recovery. Your ability to accurately verify coverage, explain costs clearly to patients, and ensure clean claims will be your most valuable contribution.
What You'll Actually Do
  • Master Insurance Verification: Meticulously verify coverage BEFORE services are provided, prevent claim denials, and maximize revenue capture
  • Excel at Financial Counseling: Confidently explain costs, billing processes, and insurance complexities to patients in a way they understand
  • Solve Billing Problems: Proactively identify and resolve insurance discrepancies and billing issues before they impact revenue
  • Drive Patient Satisfaction: Deliver exceptional service even during difficult financial conversations - keeping patients happy while handling payment matters
  • Be the Face of AFC: Greet patients with the warmth and professionalism that makes AFC stand out in healthcare
  • Own the Front Desk Flow: Process payments, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-ins with lightning efficiency
  • Protect Patient Information: Maintain organized records while strictly following HIPAA regulations

This Role is Perfect for You If:
  • You have experience with insurance verification and medical billing (non-negotiable!).
  • You can explain complex insurance concepts to frustrated patients with empathy and clarity.
  • You're obsessively detail-oriented - a single digit error in an insurance ID can cost thousands.
  • You've worked as a Medical Receptionist, Administrative Assistant, or in any Customer Service role in a medical office setting.
  • You're tech-savvy with medical billing software and EMR systems.
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills and can find billing solutions that work for both patients and the clinic.
  • You maintain a positive attitude even when dealing with challenging financial conversations.

What's In It For You:
  • Develop highly marketable skills in medical billing and insurance - some of the most in-demand talents in healthcare.
  • Receive specialized training in insurance verification and patient financial counseling.
  • Make a dual impact: help patients navigate healthcare costs while ensuring our clinic remains financially healthy.
  • Build transferable clerical and revenue cycle management skills that are valuable across the healthcare industry.
  • Be part of healthcare innovation that's expanding nationwide.
  • Clear Career Path: Grow with AFC into roles like Billing Specialist, Revenue Cycle Analyst, or Front Desk Supervisor - or move into clinic leadership and management as we continue expanding to 500+ locations.

The Details:
  • Location: Our state-of-the-art urgent care facility
  • Schedule: Part-Time with flexible shifts (some weekends)
  • Requirements:
    • High school diploma preferred; X-Ray Tech, Medical Assistant or related certification is a plus
    • Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within defined onboarding period.

We invest in your well-being so you can bring your best self to work-every shift, every patient.
Compensation
At AFC, we are committed to fair and transparent compensation practices. The anticipated pay range for this position is $XX.XX to $XX.XX per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, and market conditions. We take a holistic approach to compensation that reflects the value each team member brings to our organization.
Ready to Help Patients Live Life, Uninterrupted?
Join the AFC team that's redefining urgent care across America. Apply today and be part of Dr. Bruce Irwin's vision to provide the best healthcare possible in a kind and caring environment while respecting the rights of all patients, in an economical manner, at times and locations convenient to the patient.
