What is a part time manager?

Part time managers are professionals who oversee teams, projects, or business operations while working fewer hours than a full-time schedule, typically less than 35-40 hours per week. They perform similar duties to full-time managers, such as supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring goals are met, but on a reduced time commitment. This role is ideal for individuals seeking work-life balance or those who have other commitments. Part time managers are found in various industries, including retail, hospitality, and administration.

How does a part time manager balance leadership responsibilities with limited work hours?

A part-time manager can successfully balance leadership duties by prioritizing key tasks, delegating responsibilities to team members, and maintaining clear, proactive communication. Since time on-site may be limited, it's important to set clear expectations, utilize technology for remote oversight, and foster a culture of trust and accountability. Regular check-ins and focusing on high-impact activities help ensure team goals are met and operations run smoothly, even when the manager is not always present.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time manager?

To thrive as a Part Time Manager, you typically need leadership experience, organizational skills, and a background in business or management, often supported by relevant education or prior supervisory roles. Familiarity with scheduling software, point-of-sale systems, and basic office applications is common in this role. Exceptional communication, time management, and conflict resolution abilities help Part Time Managers motivate teams and handle challenges efficiently. These skills are crucial for maintaining smooth operations, meeting goals, and supporting team performance within limited working hours.

How to get a part time manager job without management experience?

To secure a part-time manager position without prior management experience, focus on demonstrating leadership skills gained through volunteer work, team projects, or customer service roles. • Being the club's ultimate multitasker-circulating across every department to ensure everything is clean, safe, and up to our top-tier standards.
  • Delivering Five*Star service with every interaction-on the fitness floor, at the front desk, in the Kids Zone, and everywhere in between.
  • Keeping an eye on equipment, uniforms, customer service, and team coverage-you're the eyes, ears, and pulse of the operation.
  • Jumping in where needed-from lifeguarding checks to café walkthroughs, you've got it covered.

  • Step in when needed-whether it's a Kids Zone backup or helping manage a full group exercise class.
  • Assist with emergency response and file incident reports when necessary.
  • Fill in for missing team members or during breaks across any department-versatility is your middle name.
  • Check class registration lists and enforce capacity limits-no sneaky overflows on your watch!
  • Be a friendly face for prospective members when the sales team is away-give a great tour and pass along their info.
  • Submit repair requests and ensure every corner of the club is operating like a well-oiled machine.
  • Send out an end-of-day MOD report to keep everyone in the loop.

  • Experience in hospitality, fitness, or fast-paced service roles? Bonus points.
  • Excellent communicator-calm and confident whether you're chatting with a guest or handling a tricky situation.
  • Strong attention to detail-you spot messes, issues, or broken things before anyone else does.
  • CPR/First Aid certified-or willing to get certified within 90 days.
  • Comfortable standing, walking, and moving throughout your entire shift-this isn't a desk job!

Who You Are:
  • Positive, reliable, and full of good vibes
  • Honest and ethical-you do the right thing even when no one's watching
  • A born problem-solver with a get-it-done attitude
  • Comfortable juggling a lot at once-and still smiling!

Schedule & Physical Requirements:
  • Must be available for early morning, evening, and weekend shifts
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs (safely!) and be on your feet for extended periods
