Job description

Envision Imaging is seeking a Part-Time Mammography Technologist to join our team in Sunnyvale!
Monday - Friday 4:00 - 8:00 PM (or three days a week)| Position Pay Range: $35.48 - $45.74

Summary/Objective:

Performs routine and diagnostic exams relating to breast anatomy and bone density to obtain images at a satisfactory level with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

1. Interfaces with patient to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image. Also provides patient education on breast self-examination as needed.

2. Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent. Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.

3. Obtains prior imaging as needed and performs high quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.

4. Performs Bone Density and Mammography exams while attending to patient’s care after, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient’s condition changes at any time.

5. Transfers images to other locations as needed.

6. Coordinates procedure protocols with Radiologist.

7. Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.

8. Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.

9. Other duties as assigned.

This position has no supervision responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in an environmentally controlled outpatient clinical environment. Potential exposure to radiation, which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Possible exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a medical office environment. Often requires work in cool, dimly lighted rooms.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

  • Two plus years’ experience in Mammography – preferred
  • Two plus years’ experience in Bone Density - preferred
  • Ability to educate patients on procedures being performed
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, a problem solver and a team player
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer screens and browsers quickly and accurately
  • Ability to excel in a very fast-pace team environment
  • Ability to continuously “exceed” company and customer expectation
  • Strong communication skills & professional demeanor

Education/Certifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Technologist program
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • Registry in Mammography (M)
  • Registry in Bone Densitometry (BD) through ARRT or Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) through ISCD
  • Complete 40 hours of mammography orientation
  • Complete 8 hours of 3D tomosynthesis training (if applicable)
  • Current license from state medical board (if applicable)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
