Work Schedule:
  • Daylight and occasional evening hours, Monday through Friday!
  • Rotating biweekly schedule of 2 days per week and 3 days per week.
  • Occasional Saturday shift rotation.
  • NO on-call or holidays required!
  • Travel to other local Magee-Womens Imaging offices required - up to 50% of the time depending on staffing coverage needs.
    • Mammographers are able to choose their two other rotational locations!

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on individual experience and education, per manager discretion.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs correlative breast examinations and documents scars, moles, and pertinent findings.
  • Provides individualized breast self-examination instruction and discusses the importance of an annual clinical breast examination performed by a qualified healthcare provider.
  • Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers, reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, and documents patient history in electronic record, as required.
  • Performs mammography procedures, including proper application of breast compression, positioning, and a variety of special mammography views to maximize the diagnostic quality of the examination.
  • Prepares patient for mammography procedure and tends to the physical safety and comfort of the patient.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, and explains procedures to help allay the patients' fears and solicit their cooperation.
  • Ensures all exams are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
  • Assists with the following Invasive Breast Imaging Procedures: ultrasound and stereo tactic guided needle biopsy, clip placement, ductogram, wire localization, radioactive see localization, and sentinel node injection procedures.
  • Performs equipment quality control procedures and maintains radioactive material safety.
  • If required by this department, must demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture.
  • May be required to administer PO and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to the administration of the contrast.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Completion of approved Mammography Training Course that fulfills the requirements set forth by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) in preparation for Mammography certification board examination within 30 days of hire.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • ARRT Certificate
    • Must obtain Mammography registration within 12 months of hire date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
    • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
