Maintenance Technician

The Baby Fold has been successfully wrapping services around children and families since 1902, offering life-critical support such as foster care, special education, early childhood programming, and post-adoption support. The Baby Fold is a unique resource with a strong and enduring heritage. We care for our youngest citizens so they can be blessed with loving homes, stable lives, and the futures they deserve.

The Maintenance Technician (Part-Time up to 20 hours per week) performs routine groundskeeping and light maintenance to ensure The Baby Fold's facilities and grounds are safe, clean, well-maintained, and in good working order. Responsibilities include minor repairs, painting, trimming, weeding, debris removal, equipment upkeep, and seasonal tasks such as sidewalk de-icing. The position works collaboratively with others and demonstrates care and respect for diverse experiences and perspectives.

Grounds

Maintains agency grounds by trimming and weeding, removing debris, ensuring equipment is well-maintained, and de-icing sidewalks as needed.

Light Maintenance

Ensures that agency facilities are maintained in good repair and working order. Performs routine light maintenance, repair and painting.

Safety

a. Maintains clean and safe school and work environments by assisting with inspections and keeping in-progress repairs appropriately marked and/or isolated.

b. Follows guidelines to ensure compliance with building codes.

Facilities

Assists with room set up and tear down for meetings and special events as assigned.

Quality Improvement

Contributes to quality improvement through active participation in Quality Improvement activities

Work Location: The BabyFold Campuses in Bloomington Normal, IL.

Work Hours: Hours will vary, expected work hours up to 20 hours per week. Flexible work hours available.

Pay Rate: Hourly/ Non-Exempt Position. Salary beginning at $17.00 per hour, more based on proven experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the areas of general maintenance and grounds keeping.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written directions and complete tasks independently.
  • Must be at least 19 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance in order to drive between campuses and throughout the community to complete assigned tasks during the workday.
  • Must pass necessary background checks.
  • Demonstrated competence in serving a culturally diverse population. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse workforce.
  • Mission-oriented and willing to apply The Baby Fold's beliefs and standards to the performance of job duties.
  • Must be able to read maintenance-related instructions and complete written maintenance reports.
