Overview:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Emergency Department | Level I Trauma Center
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring part-time LPNs for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads' only Level I Trauma Center. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing emergency nursing team where clinical skill, teamwork, and purpose come together to make an immediate impact for patients and families across the region.

Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital - Norfolk, VA
Position Status: Part-time, 24 hours per week
Shift: Evening shift positions available
Available Hours:
11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Weekends: Every other weekend availability required
Holiday Rotation: Required

At Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Emergency Department nurses care for patients in one of the region's most advanced and fast-paced clinical environments. Our 53-bed Emergency Department is equipped to manage a wide range of medical emergencies, with approximately 10% of cases related to trauma
As part of a Level I Trauma Center, you will work alongside experienced emergency medicine providers, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care when patients need it most. Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment.
Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award, honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.
Education Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Licensed Practical Nursing required
• Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Licensed Practical Nurse license required
• Students in the process of obtaining a LPN license may be considered
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire

Experience Requirements

• Prior LPN experience preferred
• Emergency Department experience preferred
• Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply
