Employee Relations Coordinator (part-time/28 hrs per week)

This part-time position provides confidential administrative, operational, and program support to the Managing Director of Employee Relations and the Employee Relations team. The role coordinates background check processes, unemployment insurance administration, employee relations support activities, budgeting and purchasing functions, and supervision of student employees. This position requires exceptional judgment, attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information.

What you'll do in this position:

  • Coordinate and administer the university's background check process, including vendor management, investigations, case tracking, and compliance support
  • Serve as the primary contact for unemployment insurance matters, including claims management, appeals, reporting, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide administrative support to Employee Relations leadership, including scheduling, research, case documentation, and records management
  • Manage department purchasing, travel coordination, expense reporting, budget reconciliation, and financial tracking
  • Supervise, train, and support student employees
  • Coordinate access removal processes for terminated employees and assist with employment verification requests
  • Plan and support departmental meetings, events, and special projects
  • Serve as department records liaison and provide operational support for Employee Relations initiatives

What qualifies you for this role:

Required:

  • Two or more years of office related experience. (HR office experience preferred)
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and research skills
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail and customer service skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five or more years of Human Resources-related experience
  • Experience with Workday, PeopleSoft, and other HR systems
  • Knowledge of BYU policies and procedures, payroll, purchasing, budgeting, travel, and Human Resource Services processes
  • Experience supporting employee relations, compliance, or investigative functions

Typical Starting Pay: $25.00-$32.50

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate's job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
