Job description

Do you get excited when someone discovers they can make something they didn't think was possible? Are you the person friends, family, or coworkers turn to when they're stuck with tech? If so, this role is for you.


We're looking for a curious, hands-on Digital Services & Makerspace Advisor to help our community create, learn, and explore. This position splits time between assisting at theMakerplace, our 8,000 sq ft standalone makerspace, and supporting customers at our Tech Learning Center andThe Studio, our digital media lab. You'll be part of a team that helps people do things they've never done before.


What You'll Do

  • Support customers at our Makerplace and Tech Learning Center, helping them get hands-on with equipment, software, and digital tools
  • Teach customers how to use technology and maker equipment confidently, through one-on-one help and group workshops
  • Assist with public computers, smartphones, tablets, and our "Library of Things" collection
  • Help maintain public technology and makerspace equipment
  • Share your skills with staff and contribute to a culture of curiosity and learning across the organization
  • Connect customers with the full range of library services and resources


What You Bring

  • Genuine enthusiasm for making, tinkering, or hands-on technology (experience with 3D printing, laser cutting, vinyl cutting, or similar tools is a plus)
  • A passion for helping people and delivering outstanding customer service
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain both tech and tools in a clear, approachable way
  • Experience with current technologies (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, popular software, and digital tools)
  • At least 2 years of customer service experience
  • A positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work with staff and customers in alignment withOur CultureandIDEA


Education: High school diploma/GED required. 2-3 years college coursework preferred.
Hours and Scheduling: Part-time, average of 7 hours per week.

Schedule: Every Saturday, 10 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. and general availability to take on shifts as needed.
Salary: $19.95-$24.90/hour, depending on qualifications
