GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent and library experience preferred; however, acquired.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Basic: Works proficiently with basic computer software and can become proficient with Integrated Library System (ILS), Apollo. Ability to gain a working understanding of current and developing technologies as they relate to public library operations and services.
ACCOUNTABILITY
This position is accountable to and reports to the Librarian or Assistant Librarian. Must be a self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision. Time management skills are necessary.
PUBLIC CONTACT
Daily contacts with patrons, within the library. Must have the ability to establish positive working relationships with patrons. May also involve occasional self-initiated contacts to patrons. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgement in handling information and records is essential.
EMPLOYEE CONTACT
Ability to develop positive working relationships with co-workers. Ability to work independently or as part of a team depending on task. Often work in coordination with employees in other departments and organizations.
USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS
Ability to use a copy machine, fax machine, telephone, computers, printers, scanners, and Square.
