09/08The Provo City Engineering Division is recruiting for a Survey Intern position. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a high-performing municipal survey team.
Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in performing these duties in support of services provided to the residents of Provo City are encouraged to apply.

What is the compensation?

$15.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on qualifications.

Part-time Provo City employees are eligible to contribute to individual retirement savings plans through the City (401k, 457, Roth IRA, and/or Traditional IRA) and receive the following great benefits: a) free admission to the Provo Recreation Center, Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating, and Provo Shooting Sports Park; b) a free Provo City Library Card; c) a 25% discount on Provo Recreation Center memberships (direct family only); and d) discounts from various local and national vendors.

What are the main duties?

  • Complete projects for the Engineering Division/Survey Team as directed.

  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to map surveys.

  • Check subdivision plats.

  • Assist survey crew and other department employees as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

What are the minimum qualifications?

  • Bona fide student in an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or closely-related field. (Preference given to Surveying students.)

  • Valid, lawful driver license at time of appointment.Applicant may be disqualified on the basis of an unacceptable driving record as reflected by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

What are the hours?

15-25 hours per week during the school year, up to 40 hours per week during the summer, Monday through Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

What are the physical and environmental factors?

Requires working on a computer for extended periods of time. May involve exposure to high-stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.

What is the selection process?

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. This posting is slated to closed September 9, 2026 with the first screening being held on September 2, 2026. Position may close at this time if sufficient applicantions to proceed with the recruitment process have been received.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
