JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Archives Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Library
REPORTS TO: Director of Library Services
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Primarily responsible for managing the physical archives and the digital content in the institutional repository for the university.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the digital content in the institutional repository (Dordt Digital Collections) for the college.
- Collect, preserve, organize, describe and provide access to official university archival and historical materials.
- Obtain copyright permissions for digital submissions.
- Coordinate student employees, volunteers, and others who assist with archival tasks.
- Serve as a member of the Library's Reference Team to provide personal assistance and development of instructional guides.
- Develop and maintain appropriate reports and statistics.
- Help develop archives policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
- Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.
- Prospective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy which can be found on the DU website (contact the HR Office if you need additional information).
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Prior experience in a library, archives, or museum is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, especially spelling.
- Coordinate skills needed for organizing and maintaining files and records.
- Ability to communicate clearly, knowledgeably, and personably in both speech and writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, and specialized, job-specific applications.
