There is an immediate vacancy for a part-time clerical support person located in the the Middle School/High School Library. Under the direction of the Library Media Specialists, job responsibilities include but are not limited to the proper organization and upkeep of library materials.
Qualifications:
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: This position interfaces directly with students, teachers, other school personnel, parents and the general public. It requires the ability to deal effectively with people - in person and on the telephone - and to work well under pressure. Candidates must be responsible and dependable, self-starters, with good judgment, possess a strong work ethic and be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills: The position requires someone who can handle multiple simultaneous tasks expediently and with accuracy. Attention to details is eminent.
  • Superior technical skills: Competence, combining speed and accuracy, in the use of office technology, particularly, Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Infinite Campus experience a plus.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Prior library experience preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Arranges or files materials according to library filing rules;
  • Uses computerized library software to update library database and perform routine searches;
  • Issues borrowers cards according to library procedures;
  • Checks materials in and out, collects and records fines and explains rules and procedures to library patrons at the library's circulation desk;
  • Enters orders in computer system and files order forms; checks orders received and prepares materials for circulation;
  • Assists in the physical upkeep of materials, e.g. the repair and/or cleaning of books;
  • Tallies numerical totals for record-keeping purposes; may prepare simple statistical and other reports;
  • Operates office machinery such as photocopiers, fax machines or computers;
  • Answers telephones, transfers calls and provides information to callers;
  • Calls staff to deliver messages or information on library materials;
  • Uses computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments;
  • May assist students in using materials and equipment;
  • May process inter-library loan and reserve requests.
