Description The City of Oconomowoc Public Library is seeking a dedicated part-time reference librarian. Shifts are Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and Wednesdays 4 p.m

to 8 p.m., plus a weekend rotation (approximately one weekend per month). Pleasant atmosphere. Position is non-exempt, non-benefited, and pays $22.27 per hour

Job summary- Responsible for delivering high-quality reference services at the Oconomowoc Public Library.

Examples of Duties Provide reference assistance by answering patron inquiries, resolving issues, and guiding users in utilizing information resources. Assist patrons with use of library equipment, including microfilm, internet, computers, photocopier, scanner, printer, and coin-operated print release station. Troubleshoot library equipment when necessary.

Assist with reference projects as assigned by supervisor. Assist with collection development as assigned by supervisor. Assist with programming as assigned by supervisor.

Ensure the reference area remains clean, organized, and welcoming. Monitor patron behavior, addressing concerns firmly yet professionally. Act as librarian in charge when working evenings or weekends.

Performs additional duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited college or university or currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited MLIS program. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Supplemental Information Knowledge of contemporary library practices. Considerable knowledge of online and print reference resources. Enthusiasm for learning new ways to assist patrons.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and task management abilities. Capability to provide superior patron service in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency with computers and personal electronic devices, including e-readers, cell phones (both Android and Apple operating systems). Experience with eBooks and other downloadable media. Competence in operating all listed tools and equipment.

Ability to foster effective working relationships with patrons, coworkers, supervisors, other agencies, and the public. Commitment to a positive work culture that emphasizes customer service and teamwork. Ability to attend mandatory staff reference meetings.
