Library Associate - Teen Associate

With a strong focus on customer experience, the Judy Z. Kishner Library Teen Library Associate anticipates trends, identifies opportunities to improve workflow, and proactively connects customers with the full range of services offered by TCCL. From welcoming guests to educating, guiding, and recommending resources, this position ensures every teen and family member has an extraordinary and meaningful library experience.

The Judy Z. Kishner Library after school Teen Lounge/Maker area is available every Thurs from 3-5 pm. This program offers a multitude of art based programs that include painting, sculpture, printmaking and crafting. All supplies are provided and this program is free of charge.
Key Essential Functions and Qualifications:
  • Presents programs for teens in anticipation of or response to customer interest or needs;
  • Helps develop and maintain the tweens and teens collection at the Kishner library;
  • Conducts community outreach, which may include services to schools, and community organizations;
  • Prepares displays to augment youth services and to promote the collection and programs;
  • Maintains and operates AV equipment, computers, office machines, and other library hardware and software;
  • May serve as Person in Charge of the location as needed; directing tasks of Customer Service Assistants, Shelvers and volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors’ degree required.
  • No previous experience required; library, retail, or customer service experience preferred.

Location: Judy Z. Kishner Library
Status: Part Time - 20hr./week
Salary: $21.10 / hour
Benefits Offered: Accrued Paid Time Off

Schedule:
Wednesday 10 am - 6 pm
Thursday 12 pm - 8 pm
Alternating Fridays 10 am - 6 pm and Saturdays 10 am - 5 pm

Physical and Environmental Conditions
The job occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three or four reams of paper, four for five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperature and air conditions. The job may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, such as occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of video display terminals.
