Position Summary:

  • Develop Feather Book Project website. The site, to be developed in McGillWebManagement System (WMS), will host a description of the project and network members, andwill publish short essays, case studies, reports on research and testing,andhost videosembedded fromMcGill LibrariesYouTube channelof theMcGillBibliotheca naturaeStudentSymposia (BNSS) as well asdocumentation of project workshop(s)

  • Liaise with McGill Translation services to make website available inin English and French with some Italian content

  • Establish shared database on FB Project Google Drive, following template developed byMcGill Libraries Cataloguing Services

  • Investigate open and accessible online platforms for the publication of an annotated digital Feather Book

  • Assist in maintaining internal communications between the research network using the google drive, zoom and other technologies for research collaboration

Qualifications:

  • Experience of web development and design and knowledge of current web standards

  • Good general knowledge of technology, internet conferencing and file sharing technologies

  • Undergraduate degree in history, history of science, cultural geography or related discipline is useful.

  • Knowledge of French and Italian is an asset

  • Interest in knowledge management for academic research projects; experience in digital preservation, file name protocols, and cloud-based storage options an asset.
