Perioperative RN job description

  • Cedar Surgical Associates is looking for a dedicated RN to promote the vision, mission and values of our ASC.
  • Cedar Surgical Associates is a one room OR ASC. This position is for our pre operative department with cross training in post operative as needed.
  • Working days for this position are Tuesday (0615 to finish), Wednesday (0615 to finish) and Thursday for pre operative patient phone calls (0830-1230).
  • We are closed on all major holidays, we do not work weekends or take call.
  • This position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms, and develop and implement patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to Utah State Law.

Duties Responsibilities

  • Perioperative Nurses offer the skills needed to provide surgical patient care by assessing, planning, and implementing the nursing care patients receive before, during and after surgery
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Cedar Surgical Associates.
  • Assess patient status throughout the perioperative episode of care.
  • Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.
  • Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care.
  • Monitoring post-operative patients' levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia.
  • Measuring and recording patients' vital signs.
  • Closely observing patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication.
  • Treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
  • Updating charts, patient files, and medical records.
  • Collaborating with the medical team on pre and post-operative patient care and facilitating timely specialized interventions.
  • Providing comfort and reassurance to distressed patients and concerned family members.
  • Educating patients and their families on surgery care, as well as answering questions.

Qualifications

  • An associate's or bachelor of science degree in nursing (BSN).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification in the state of Utah.
  • At least two years of experience working as a nurse, OR/PACU/critical care experience preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record, and paper charting.
  • Experience in measuring and interpreting vital signs and levels of consciousness.
  • Advanced knowledge of best practices in patient care.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Superb organizational and time management abilities.
  • Availability to work 10 plus hours shifts.
  • ACLS certification
  • PALS certification
  • BLS certification


Pay starts at $34.00 and is dependant upon your experience
