FTE: .01, Shift: variable, Schedule: 12 hr shifts
Position Summary
The Patient Access Technician (PAT) is an exciting opportunity at MultiCare, responsible for welcoming patients at one of our Off-Campus Emergency Departments. This position works closely with both financial and clinical teams and will offer you the space to create the optimum patient experience.
Responsibilities
  • You will assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
  • You will obtain inpatient bed assignments and processes inpatient admission, to include arm banding, addressograph plate, and completion of necessary forms
  • You will pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process
  • You will obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system in order to notify other areas
  • You will complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic insurance and/or third party liability information
  • You will perform eligibility verification and resolves any discrepancies, determine need for financial assistance recommendation and application, referring to the Financial Counselor where necessary

Requirements
  • Graduate of health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance or medical general, required
  • One year of admitting, billing, registration or custom service experience may be considered in lieu of education

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.88 - $37.85 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
