What is a part-time legal job?

These roles can include positions such as paralegals, legal assistants, junior lawyers, or administrative staff in law firms, corporate legal departments, or government agencies. Part-time legal jobs offer flexibility for those balancing other commitments, such as education or family, while still providing valuable experience in the legal sector.

Job Title: Bilingual Part-Time On-Call Advocate
Status: Part Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Co-Director of Client Services: Advocacy

About The Blue Bench
At The Blue Bench, our mission is to eliminate sexual assault and diminish the impact it has on
individuals, their loved ones and our community through comprehensive issue advocacy, prevention,
and care. Our hope is to one day live in a world where sexual assault no longer exists; where there are
no more victims, friends and families suffering in its wake. This is what inspires our efforts. And until
that day comes, our work is not complete. Inspired by the courage of one another – as survivors,
activists, advocates and community leaders, The Blue Bench has helped hundreds of thousands of
Denver-area individuals find the courage to move from victim to survivor.
Job Purpose
The Blue Bench is seeking a Bilingual Part-Time On-Call Advocate to join the Client Services Team. The
Bilingual On-Call Advocate responds to hospital advocacy calls from The Blue Bench 24/7 Crisis Hotline
to support individuals who have recently experienced a sexual assault with a particular emphasis on
Latinx and Spanish-speaking communities. For this role, the delivery of services in Spanish is essential.
This position serves as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault, accompanying them during a forensic
exam and offering non-judgmental support, psychoeducation, crisis emotional support, and information
about The Blue Bench services and resources in the community.
The ideal candidate is a trauma-informed and compassionate advocate, who is passionate about
providing emotional support to survivors while helping them identify and navigate their immediate and
longer-term needs and connecting them to appropriate services. They are able to stay centered and
focused in the midst of high emotion, remain survivor-centered while staying aligned with the mission of
the agency. They are flexible and adaptable and have a strong commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression
values.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Be On-Call for hospital response from own phone and commit to a minimum of one (1)
overnight (6:00pm – 6:00am) shift per week and one (1) weekend (Friday 6:00pm – Monday
6:00am) shift per every 5 weeks.
• Be On-Call for hospital response from own phone during holidays and any breaks when The Blue
Bench office is closed.
• Respond to calls regarding recent sexual assault by providing in-person support to survivors at
the hospital within a timely manner (within 1 hour of request).

• Provide individual crisis stabilization, immediate support, information and/or referrals and
resources in English and Spanish.
• Maintain survivor confidentiality.
• Work collaboratively and professionally with hospital and/or law enforcement staff or any
community partner to provide holistic care and support to survivors.
• Complete the required forty (40) hours of Advocacy Training, eight (8) hours of Hospital
Response training, and any additional On-Call training.
• Complete and submit Hospital Intake forms to supervisor for each survivor within 24 hours of a
hospital call.
• Work collaboratively with members of the On-Call team to ensure 24/7 Hospital Advocacy
coverage.
• Attend virtual monthly On-Call Team meetings on the 4th Tuesday of the month, 5:00pm –
6:30pm.
• Meet with the Lead Case Manager for peer support and additional training as necessary.

necessary.
