Job description

Academic Req:(Preferred) Bachelor's degree in a human service field or related field or currently enrolled in an advanced degree program.

Required: High School Diploma.

Certifications: If applicant does not have 18hrs of social work on transcript, then a Family Services Certificate must be obtained within 6 months of hire. INK will pay for 1st certification test. If test is failed, subsequent tests will be paid for by the applicant.

Work experience: Preferred 1-year related direct service experience.

Summary: The Navigator is responsible for using sound professionaljudgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided the service population especially in crisis situations while maintaining compliance with established program standards.

Essential Functions:
1. Outreach and recruitment of participants for classes, including efforts for minimizing attrition.
2. Establishes and maintains a trusting and professional working relationship with families by providing regular contact through personal visits.
3. Administer intake, assessments, and screening tools to clients and family members.
4. Utilizes intake and assessment results to establish and effectively implement goals, objectives, and activities identified with parents.
5. Records all group and individualized services and activities in a complete, concise, and timely manner utilizing program forms into informational software/databases.
6. Meets with Manager/supervisor on a bi-weekly basis to evaluate status of families on caseload.
Measurable Deliverables:
1. Obtains and maintains certification in SafeCare curriculum administration.
2. Enroll and partner in serving a maximum of 30 clients and provide sessions of services as per Thriving Texas Families guidelines.
3. Provide parent & health education, case management, resource and referrals, basic needs support, transportation assistance, and/or other support services to families on caseload.
4. Document all attendance on a weekly basis in informational software.
5. Attend all required trainings.
6. Provide community education on child abuse prevention strategies.
7. Develop together with Lead Navigator & Outreach and Data Specialist, updates, reminders, and community education information.

Requirements:

2. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens and maintain emotional control, and professional composure, at all times.
3. Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request.
4. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background and motor vehicle check (fingerprints needed if applicant has lived out of state within the past 5 years)
5. Demonstrate the ability to:
a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Spanish.
c. Work in a fast-paced environment.
d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.
e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
f. Travel locally as needed.
g. Manage time effectively and efficiently.
6. Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
7. Will follow all procedures of the INK personnel manual.
8. Must possess a current and valid driver's license
