Job description


Position Title: Disciplinary Hearing Officer - Part-Time
Division: Leadership Services
Reports To: Executive Director, School Operational Systems Effectiveness & Support
Hourly Rate: $45
Essential Duties:
  • Assist with planning and conducting staff development opportunities for building level administrators and back-up hearing officers in the areas of student disciplinary hearings and school law.
  • Meet on a regular basis with the Executive Director and Coordinators for the purpose of maintaining communication and clarity in areas related to student disciplinary hearings.
  • Attend professional growth opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Be in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, or have experience as a teacher, counselor, or administrator in a public school system, or be actively serving as a hearing officer under an existing contract/agreement with a Georgia school system provided that such individual completes the tribunal training course within six months of July 1 of the given year.
  • Ability to perform professionally under stressful and confrontational situations.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse population of students, staff, and administrators.
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  • Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
