Job description

Position: After School Teacher and Assistant (Part-Time Roles)
Supervisor: Extended Care Program Director
Work Site: The Main Street Academy; College Park, GA
Job Summary:
Provide students quality programming in a safe organized environment with an emphasis on homework help and completion Monday-Thursday and enrichment activities on Friday.
Work Hours: up to three hours between 3:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teacher Role
  • Oversee students, at all times, in accordance with Program policies and procedures
  • Assure that students are properly organized into their homework/activity groups daily
  • Help students with homework and check homework
  • Circulate amongst students during homework and activity sessions
  • Research, plan, and conduct student enrichment activities
  • Escort students to activity locations, restroom, and pick-up area if assistant is not available
  • Produce activity samples
  • Take and record students’ attendance daily
  • Complete and file daily, weekly and/or quarterly reports
  • Maintain a positive professional relationship with students, parents, and staff
  • Maintain a clean work environment daily
  • Maintain, organize, and track supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Distribute snacks and complete snack report daily
  • Assist Program Director with various Program tasks
Assistant Role
  • Assist lead teacher with the above stated responsibilities and occasionally fill-in for lead teacher
  • Escort students to activity locations, restroom, and pick-up area
  • Distribute snacks and complete snack report daily
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma / Must be able to assist students (grades K-8th) with homework
  • Experience working with students grades K-8th in a student enrichment setting, i.e., after school, summer camp and or tutorial service.
