Job description

Respiratory Therapy Clinical Instructor (Part-Time)
Location: Pima Medical Institute - Albuquerque Campus | On-Site & Clinical Sites
Position Type: Part-Time (16 Hours/Week) | Day Shift
Compensation: $31.00 - $38.75 per hour
Pima Medical Institute is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our Albuquerque campus as a part-time Clinical Instructor. In this role, you will serve as the bridge between classroom learning and real-world patient care - guiding students through clinical experiences at our partner sites across Albuquerque while maintaining your own clinical career.
This is a day shift position with no nights, weekends, or on-call responsibilities - the perfect way to add meaningful mentorship to your professional life without disrupting your current schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee student externships and ensure each student receives appropriate and diverse clinical experiences.
  • Monitor student attendance, supervise hands-on performance, and evaluate progress using program standards.
  • Reinforce program techniques and ensure students apply classroom theory to patient care safely and effectively.
  • Serve as the liaison between PMI and hospital administrators; resolve concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure all student activities comply with PMI policies and clinical facility regulations.
  • Maintain current clinical practice and stay informed of changes in the respiratory therapy field.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Graduation from a CHEA or USDE-recognized accredited Respiratory Therapy program OR minimum 4 years of job-related Respiratory Therapy training and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in hospital or clinical Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • Current New Mexico Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Professionals with advanced degrees in related fields (physicians, pharmacists, nurses, pulmonary function technologists) may qualify under CoARC 2.13.
