Job description

Title: Laborer - Youth Hire

Location: Kotzebue, AK

Status: Part Time, Temporary


Position Summary:

The Laborer position provides seasonal support to KIC's Facilities Management team. This role assists with general cleaning, basic maintenance tasks, and upkeep of KIC properties and grounds. The position is designed to provide youth with hands-on work experience while promoting teamwork, responsibility, and a strong work ethic.

The Laborer is expected to maintain a positive attitude, follow direction, and contribute to a safe and productive work environment while delivering courteous and respectful service.

This position is temporary and intended for summer youth hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with cleaning and upkeep of KIC buildings, offices, and surrounding grounds.
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Perform light duty maintenance and general labor duties as directed.
  • Support preparation and cleanup for maintenance and repair projects.
  • Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians and Construction team members with duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and a willingness to learn.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as a part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Approved State of Alaska work permit required for applicants ages 14-16.
