Job description

NOTE:  THIS ROLE WILL BE PART-TIME FOR ROUGHLY 6-8 HOURS PER WEEK. 

ON-SITE REQUIRED.

Position Objective: Provide services as a Periodontist in support of the overall functions of the Laboratory of Host Immunity and Microbiome (LHIM), Division of Intramural Research (DIR) within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

Duties and Responsibilities:     

  • Evaluate patients for gum disease and other periodontal conditions.
  • Assist the Federal Task Leader with developing treatment plans, such as gum surgery and implant placement.
  • Advise the Federal Task Leader and patients on oral health information.
  • Collaborate with other staff to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in dental medicine or dental surgery from an accredited program is required.
  • Minimum of Four (4) years of experience working in dentistry is required.
  • State license to practice dentistry.
  • Board certification in periodontics.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
  • Must strictly adhere to all NIH policies regarding the protection of Patient’s personal identifiable information (PII)
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, techniques, and technologies in the field of periodontology.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to work on a team, excellent customer relations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or other equivalent software suites
