Job description

Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A), (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage: $20.00/hour (Higher pay based on experience)
$1,000.00 Retention Bonus Offered for Full-Time PM Positions
Hours: Part-Time or Full-Time Positions Available
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide basic resident care under direction of nursing staff. Perform duties such as feed, bathe, dress, groom or move residents, or change linens. May transfer or transport residents as allowed by OSHA standards. May work in one specific neighborhood with the expectation of working in others as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Answer resident call signals to determine residents' needs.
  • Provide physical support to assist residents to perform daily living activities, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising.
  • Communicate with residents to ascertain feelings or need for assistance or social and emotional support.
  • Observe or examine residents to detect symptoms that may require medical attention, such as bruises, open wounds, or blood in urine.
  • Apply clean dressings, slings, stockings, or support bandages, under the direction of a nurse or physician.
  • Document or otherwise report observations of resident behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses.
  • Record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration rate as directed by medical or nursing staff.
  • Feed residents or assist residents in eating and drinking.
  • Review residents' dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences to ensure resident receives appropriate diet.
  • Change bed linens or make beds.
  • Measure and record food and liquid intake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
  • Collect specimens such as urine, feces, or sputum.
  • Restock resident rooms with personal hygiene items, such as towels, washcloths, soap, or toilet paper.
  • Supply, collect and empty bedpans.
  • Turn or reposition residents.
  • Undress, wash, and dress residents who are unable to do so for themselves.
  • Transport specimens, laboratory items, or pharmacy items, ensuring proper documentation and delivery to authorized personnel.
  • Supports the Mission, Vision, and values of Woodside Senior Communities.
  • Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents/tenants in a safe, secure environment.
  • Observes care in ensuring the confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data as required by HIPAA/HITECH regulations.
  • Abides by all applicable statutes and regulations through compliance with the Woodside Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program.
  • Completes requirements for in-service training.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Completion of a State approved Nursing Assistant course or passing the State Nursing Assistant exam for Certification as well as the CNA listing on the State and Federal Registry required
  • Experience as a Nursing Assistant in a healthcare setting strongly preferred
  • Computer skills strongly preferred
  • Certified or willingness to obtain dementia care certification strongly preferred
