Position Summary Information
Job Goal
"Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) is seeking qualified and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses to serve as Adjunct Instructors in the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program. As a CNA Instructor, you will play a vital role in preparing students to provide safe, high-quality direct care to individuals in various healthcare settings. You will be responsible for delivering engaging instruction while leading and supervising lab and clinical experiences. Instructors ensure that students meet all learning objectives of the approved Iowa 75-hour Certified Nurse Aide course curriculum provided by the college."

Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Possess and maintain a current Iowa RN License or multi-state compact License.
• A minimum of two years of RN or LPN experience is required, with at least one year in the provision of long-term care facility services.
• Experience in teaching adults and/or nurse aides is preferred.
• Must have certification or be enrolled in a "Train the Trainer" class upon accepting the Adjunct Instructor position.
• Must be approved by the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (college will submit).
• Clear criminal and abuse public registry background check.
• Meet clinical compliance requirements according to current policy (ex. TB Screening).
• Current Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
• Professional demeanor with strong communication and clinical skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Instruct in the laboratory setting to introduce and reinforce hands-on learning of clinical skills, as assigned.
• Supervise CNA students in a long-term care facility, reinforcing hands-on learning of clinical skills and professional behaviors, as assigned.
• Follow CNA Program-defined policies and procedures.
• Maintain commitments in a professional manner.
• Uphold the integrity and proprietary nature of the College's instructional curriculum.
• Prepare and submit student records and class materials in a timely manner.
• Comply with federal laws, including HIPAA and FERPA.
• Promptly report repairs and supplies needed for the classroom and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with members of NICC and the Health program team.
• Attend scheduled instructor meetings (1-2 per year), as assigned.
• Know the learning objectives as defined in the curriculum.
• Become familiar with the curriculum content.
• Be familiar with the defined correct method for performing the identified skills in the curriculum.
• Deliver instruction using various modalities and strategies to meet the needs of the student learner in the classroom, lab, and/or clinical site as assigned.
• Monitor and record student attendance and skill competencies.
• Perform classroom management and instruction in compliance with all College, State, and Federal policies, requirements and regulations.
• Report to and communicate effectively with the CNA Program Coordinator(s).
Essential Functions
The Adjunct Instructor must be able to:
• Effectively deliver CNA curriculum in various settings, including classroom, laboratory, and clinical environments.
• Utilize diverse teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles.
• Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and healthcare partners.
• Adhere to all college policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
