Job Summary
Assist students in the Math Lab with math assignments using effective tutoring techniques.
Required Qualifications
  • Successful completion of the equivalent of a transfer level math course or instructor recommendation
  • Ability to interact with students on an individual basis or in groups
  • Ability to explain information and mathematical concepts through oral and written communication

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer Math, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering major
  • Basic computer skills

Essential Functions
  • Instruct and assist students in the use of mathematical related technology such as the calculators (TI-30, TI-35, TI-83, TI-84), mathematical software, and computerized tutorial programs through demonstrations
  • Work effectively with math students of all levels to promote student success in mathematics
  • Must be organized, reliable, and punctual
  • Follow best practices for tutoring as instructed
  • Abide by the Midland College policies and procedures
  • Contribute to a safe educational and working environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to move around room to assist students for entire shift
  • Use of manual dexterity
